Celebrating a Wonderful Day at Lewes Victoria Hospital
A huge success – and a day to remember!
The recent Heritage Day event at Lewes Victoria Hospital, hosted with the support of the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital (FoLVH), was a resounding success, bringing together staff, patients, volunteers, and members of the local community.
From start to finish, the hospital was alive with energy, curiosity, and appreciation. Visitors explored the facilities, chatted with the dedicated staff, and discovered the wide range of services available right here in Lewes — many of which came as a surprise to even long-time residents.
“We didn’t realise how much the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital do for the hospital,” was a comment echoed by many attendees.
Indeed, it was a proud moment for the Friends, whose ongoing support – from fundraising for equipment to campaigning for services like the newly reintroduced phlebotomy clinic – plays a vital role in enhancing the hospital experience for patients and staff alike.
Visitors also praised the team working at the hospital, with feedback like:
“The staff are so lovely,”“There are so many services here – we had no idea,”“The history is fascinating.”
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed guided tours, informative displays, and opportunities to ask questions about both current services and the hospital’s heritage. Many were surprised to learn just how much has been achieved – and how much continues to be done – behind the scenes by a dedicated network of supporters and healthcare professionals.
The hospital’s rich history was another major talking point, with archival photos and exhibits drawing admiration from those who had never seen this side of the hospital before.
As one visitor summed up perfectly:
“It’s a real gem in the heart of our town – we’re lucky to have it.”
The Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital would like to thank everyone who attended, supported, or helped organise the event. Your enthusiasm and kind words mean so much to the team.
