At Lewes Victoria Hospital this month, medics began using the two newly installed Nasoendoscopes generously financed by Lewes Athletic Club.
Senior Nurse, Nicky Axtell describes the importance of this brand-new equipment:
“The nasoendoscopes and lights are used in our ENT (Ear, nose and throat) clinics by the Consultant to inspect patients' nasal passages, back of the throat and down to the vocal cords. Because the scope has a fine flexible tip, it can be passed via the nose and is not a painful procedure for the patient, I know as I've had this done myself. The Consultant has an immediate view of the area to be examined without having to send the patient elsewhere for a more invasive examination.”
Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital are grateful for this regular fundraising effort from Lewes Athletic Club; this equipment represents a donation raised from the LAC Lewes Santa Fun Run.
The Lewes Santa Fun Run is a highly popular volunteer led pre-Christmas event that attracts hundreds of runners and walkers and offers a range of distances and includes an elf run.
